Clark Lake Park: Kent Family Photography Location

When it comes to planning your family photo session, there are a few key decisions to make. In my role as a professional family photographer, I always emphasize that the focus of your pictures should be on your family and the connection you share. However, choosing the right outfits and location can truly enhance the experience and make your final images even more special.

Why Pick Clark Lake Park for your Family Photography Location:

Clark Lake Park in Kent offers all the elements for a memorable family photography session. The park offers open shade that provides flattering light, a variety of scenery, and ample space for your family to interact. Located south of Seattle, this park is among the best places for family photography in the area. There are a few things to consider before booking it for your family photos so keep reading to the end.

Spacious Clark Lake Park in Kent's East Hill neighborhood is awesome for family photos

Clark Lake Park covers an expansive 130 acres in Kent’s East Hill neighborhood. It features well-maintained walking trails that wind through wooded areas, across boardwalks in shallow marshes, and around vast grassy fields with views of rolling hills. While the lake at the center of the park is for viewing only due to water hazards, there is a beautifully maintained dock that serves as a kid-favorite spot for observing ducks.

Stunning Family Photos: Clark Lake's natural scenery provides a variety of picturesque backdrops for professional family photos. Between the lake, trees, boardwalks, and grassy hills there’s something for every outdoor aesthetic. For more Pacific Northwest vibe in your family photos, mornings or overcast days are the ideal times for pictures with views of the Cascades in the distance. From certain spots in the park, you can also enjoy views of Mt. Rainier.

Things to consider before scheduling a family photo session at Clark Lake Park

Parking: The park's small parking lot is often full. However, there is easy street parking on the south and west sides of the park. On the north side, along 240th, you'll find two large church parking lots across the street. When crossing the busy street, use caution. There is a lighted crosswalk on 120th Street at the northwest corner of the park.

Accessibility: Families with mobility challenges may find Clark Lake Park challenging. While accessible parking spaces are available in the dedicated lot on 240th, the trails are uneven, and reaching the lake requires a quarter to half-mile walk into the park. Sturdy benches near the lake offer spots to rest and enjoy nature.

Bathrooms: It's important to note that Clark Lake Park does not have permanent restrooms. However, in recent years, a well-maintained accessible porta potty has been placed near the entrance on SE 248th St, across from Martin Sourton Elementary. I always give families a heads up about the bathroom situation before choosing Clark Lake for their photography session.

Clark Lake can be an excellent place to take family photos, but the first step is to choose a photographer. You can find out more about me and view my family photography portfolio featuring this and other locations in Kent and the surrounding area.
